1. Summary

This Privacy Policy explains how ScanlyGo ("ScanlyGo," "we," "our," or "us") handles information when you use our website at scanlygo.com (the "Website") or our iOS application (the "App").

ScanlyGo is designed to process your documents primarily on your device. When you scan, import, convert, merge, split, compress, protect, unlock, view, or share PDF files, your documents are processed locally on your iPhone or iPad unless you explicitly choose to export or share them.

We do, however, use Firebase Analytics to collect limited app usage and device-related information to help us understand how the App is used, improve performance, and monitor product decisions. If you purchase premium features, Apple processes your payment and we receive limited purchase status information needed to unlock and restore access.

On the Website, we use Umami Cloud in its European data region to measure aggregate traffic and a limited set of product interactions. The Website analytics configuration does not use cookies, collect query strings or URL fragments, identify users, or record session replays, heatmaps, document contents, filenames, passwords, or signatures.

2. Information We Process Locally On Your Device

The App may process the following content locally on your device:

• scanned document images
• photos you choose to import
• PDF files you import, create, edit, merge, split, compress, protect, or unlock
• document metadata needed for the App to organize your files within the App

This content is stored locally in the App’s sandboxed storage on your device unless you choose to export, share, or otherwise move it outside the App.

We do not upload your documents to our own servers for processing.

3. Information We Collect Automatically

We use Firebase Analytics, a service provided by Google, to collect limited analytics information about how the App is used.

This information may include:

• app-instance or installation-level identifiers used by the analytics service
• device and app information, such as device model, operating system version, app version, and preferred language
• usage information, such as screens viewed, features used, buttons tapped, session duration, first opens, app updates, and general interaction events
• approximate geographic information such as country or region derived from IP-based signals
• premium and purchase-related app events, such as paywall opens, restore attempts, and purchase state events
• diagnostic or error-related event information that we log through analytics

We do not intentionally use Firebase Analytics to directly identify you by name, email address, or the contents of your documents. However, analytics data may still be considered personal data under some laws.

Website analytics

We use Umami Cloud, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the Website is found and whether its public pages and browser-based PDF tools are useful. Umami does not use cookies for this tracking. Our configuration limits collection to page paths without query strings or URL fragments and allow-listed interaction event names.

Website analytics may include:

• page path and page title
• referring website
• browser, operating system, device type, screen size, and browser language
• approximate country, region, or city derived from network information
• allow-listed events, such as an App Store link click, a valid tool input, a completed conversion, a download, or a failed operation

Umami uses request information to produce anonymous session and aggregate usage metrics. We do not assign our own user identifier, call Umami’s identification feature, enable session replay or heatmaps, or send event properties containing document or personal information. Files selected in a browser tool remain on your device and are not sent to Umami.

4. Camera, Photo Library, and Files Access

The App may request permission to access:

• your camera, so you can scan documents
• your photo library, so you can select images for PDF creation or editing
• files you choose through the iOS file picker, so you can import PDFs and images

We only access this content when you choose to use these features.

5. Purchases and Subscriptions

If you buy premium features or subscriptions, Apple processes the payment transaction. We do not receive your payment card details.

We may receive limited information necessary to provide premium access, such as:

• whether a purchase or subscription is active
• product identifiers
• transaction or restore status

This information is used only to unlock, restore, and manage premium features in the App.

6. How We Use Information

We use information described in this Privacy Policy to:

• provide the App’s core PDF and document features
• save and manage files locally on your device
• measure app usage and feature adoption
• measure Website traffic, referrals, App Store link clicks, and browser-tool completion
• improve app performance, usability, and reliability
• improve Website usability, reliability, and content
• understand purchase flows and restore behavior
• respond to support requests you send us

We do not sell your personal information.

We do not use your document contents for advertising.

We do not use analytics data to track you across third-party apps or websites for targeted advertising.

Where the GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interests in measuring and improving the Website for the limited Umami processing described above. We balance that interest through data minimization, a short retention period, Do Not Track support, and the browser opt-out below. You may object to this processing at any time.

7. Sharing of Information

We share information only in the following limited situations:

• with service providers that help us operate the App, such as Google Firebase for analytics
• with Umami Software, Inc. to provide privacy-focused Website analytics in Umami’s European data region
• with Apple for in-app purchase and subscription processing
• when you explicitly choose to export or share a document
• when required by law, legal process, or to protect rights, safety, and security

9. Data Retention

Documents and PDFs you create or import are retained on your device until you delete them, uninstall the App, or remove them from your device.

Analytics data is retained according to our Firebase / Google Analytics configuration and business needs. Retention periods may vary based on the settings applied to our analytics property.

Website analytics stored in Umami Cloud are retained for no longer than six months. We may delete or aggregate this information sooner when it is no longer needed.

If you contact us by email, we may retain your message and contact details for as long as needed to respond and handle follow-up support.

10. International Transfers

We selected Umami Cloud’s European data region for Website analytics. Our service providers, including Umami and Google, may still process information in countries other than the country where you live. Those countries may have data protection laws that differ from the laws in your jurisdiction. Where required, international transfers must be supported by appropriate contractual or other safeguards. Contact us for information about safeguards that apply to a particular transfer.

11. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information we handle. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

12. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding personal data, including the right to request access, deletion, correction, restriction, or objection to certain processing.

Because most document processing happens locally on your device, many data controls are available directly to you in the App or on your device, including:

• deleting documents from the App
• removing photos or files from your device
• uninstalling the App

At this time, the App may not provide a separate in-app control to disable Firebase Analytics. If that changes, we will update this Privacy Policy.

13. Children’s Privacy

The Website and App are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will review the request.

14. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the Effective Date above and post the updated version on the Website, within the App, or through another appropriate method.
